THE STRAUSS FAMILY

    COME HEAR THE MUSIC AS YOU WATCH OVER 85-YEARS OF THEIR LIVES UNFOLD IN THIS 8-PART BRITISH PRODUCTION WITH WALTZES PERFORMED BY THE LONDON PHILHARMONIC 
    THE VIEWER EXPERIENCES A DIFFERENT PART  OF THEIR FAMILY WITH EACH HOUR AND A HALF EPISODE WITH EACH BEGINNING AT 7PM

14 JULY    PART I-ANNA
    After marrying his girlfriend, Johann “Papa” Strauss finds she is expecting a child. His     popularity grows     with each performance in Vienna’s dance halls -- with his eyes beginning to     wander mainly at a stunningly beautiful woman named Emilie.

        PART II-EMILIE
    With his popularity at it’s zenith -- “Papa” Strauss decides to abandon his family -- which leaves     his oldest son Johann “Schanni” Strauss Jr. to support  his Mother and brothers by being     employed as a banker. The future “Waltz King” must only dream of a life in music.

28 JULY    PART III-SCHANNI
    With his mother’s help -- Schanni forms his own orchestra with plans to perform his growing     collection of music. When word of this reaches Papa -- his father is determined to destroy his     son’s chances before they begin by upstaging him with a large scale concert for the Kaiser.

        PART IV-REVOLUTION
    Schanni is asked  by his brother Josef  to write a march for his fight in the revolution against the     Kaiser. With unquestioned loyalty always to the crown -- Papa Strauss leaves Austria with his     new family.

11 AUGUST    PART V- JOSEF
    Relentless touring nearly destroys Schanni by nervous breakdown -- and he decides to let     Josef perform his music across Europe. It is hear Josef finds his love for conducting and a     popularity of his     own.  After much rest -- Schanni performs for the Czar during a trip to Russia -        - and once returning to Vienna -- is absorbed by a woman named Hetti.
      
        PART VI-HETTI
    Against his mother’s wishes -- Schanni marries Hetti who becomes very accepted by the Strauss     family as well as in  his Austria. Her skill as a business manager propels Schanni’s career to even     higher heights.

25 AUGUST    PART VII-LILI
    Questions of infidelity abound between Schanni and his wife Hetti with accusations flying in     every direction. Another woman believed by many to be a gold-digger  -- looms close to the     wildly successful Schanni.
   
        PART VII-ADELE
    His career and personal life in shambles -- Schanni may have found his true love in a sincere,     caring widow named Adele. They decide to relocate to Germany -- but find their relationship     filled with scandals
